Protect Yourself From The Flu In The Spring

Thankfully The Walkers were spared this flu season (with no flu shots!) but that doesn’t mean we still can’t catch it. The most deadly flu season in a decade may be over here in Texas but the flu is still floating around and people are still getting sick. I give myself a shot every week for my psoriasis, I’m not down for an extra one that I don’t believe will help me.

My Beef With The Flu Shot

Anyone else notice that most people who got the flu shot this season actually got the flu? I felt like everyone I spoke to, who got the shot, ended up sick, like wtf?! I, like almost everyone else in America grew up getting the flu shot, because the doctor said to. However I quit getting it a few years ago and don’t plan on getting it again. Not to mention the ingredients are pretty sketchy, and some have been linked to cancer. Egg protein, formaldehyde, MSG, antibiotics, and polysorbate 80.

Why The Flu Shot Isn’t Working

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) says the vaccine effectiveness can vary and that the vaccine will lessen the rick for 40-60% of people who receive it. Basically you have to match exactly which strand of the flu is in the vaccine. The CDC says, “During years when the flu vaccine is not well matched to circulating influenza viruses, it is possible that no benefit from flu vaccination may be observed.” And, “flu vaccines provide better protection against influenza B or influenza A (H1N1) viruses than against influenza A (H3N2) viruses.”

How To Safely Protect Yourself
